Pinocchio; eat your heart out!

With the boat stripped and dried out and the nose off, it was time to start with the makeover.  First on was a new prod – actually a very lightly used TP52 spinnaker pole cut down to length. As we did not want to see too much of a change in the boats IRC rating, the length of the pole was kept the same as its predecessor.

To strengthen the front end the old ‘ornamental’ forward bulkhead was removed and a substantial new bulkhead installed.  Angles where then mocked up for both the prod positioning and the new bow profile. Once the committee of taste had okayed both, the forming and reinforcement work was undertaken – lots of carbon to reinforce the prod and keep it pointing the right way and lots of carbon to take the loads from the bobstays at the new knuckle of the bow.

Once that was done, it was time to prime her up.

End result – Sarah had a nose that would terrify Pinocchio and a chin that Captain America would be proud off.
